The “Don’t Wannas”
You know that feeling where you want to get so much stuff done but you have zero motivation to get started? That’s my problem today. It’s when the house gets so bad that you look around and would rather just take a nap. I’ve managed to do two loads of laundry, start the dishwasher and polish my toe nails. Steven is about to hang Christmas lights. I love Christmas lights. I love Christmas and this is the first year in a while that Steven and I both have been in the mood for this holiday at the same time.
There are so many pressures during the holidays and my main deterrent is due to this messy, cluttered house. Mimi and I were just talking about that the other day. You’re supposed to enjoy this time of year because the families get together and there’s all the food and laughter and happy togetherness. How, can you when all you can think about is how you NEED to clean but you just don’t WANT to.
Where to start…
Ugh. I gotta get this house clean. Where to start though? I normally start in the bathrooms. But I don’t wanna. I know I sound like a whiney kid. I know it will lift my mood if I just start it. I’ll feel so much better and so accomplished once it’s done. That’s the problem. Getting started is always the hardest part. I started on my closet and then lost interest. Misty teases me about that saying that’s what I’m like when I shave my legs.. it’s mostly not true. Do you do that? Do you start something and then lose interest or do you HAVE to finish before you can start anything else? If you’re the latter, HOW DO YOU DO IT?
I need to get up. There’s just mess and clutter everywhere. Two kids, three dogs, and a cat make it difficult to maintain a house. If you’re not like me then I know that just sounds like a ridiculous excuse but if you are then you can feel my pain. I know you can.
We have tile floors throughout the house (except for one room) which you would think would be easy to keep clean. Just sweep it up… Nope. I bought myself a Hoover Floormate about three weeks ago in hopes that it would make the floor cleaning task easier and may even motivate me to keep the floor clean. Nope. Haven’t even used it yet.
You know what? I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna see how good this thing works. Rrrrrriiiiiight now.
~ 30 MINUTES LATER ~
Oh my goodness I love it!! No no… my house isn’t clean but I did clean the floor. No no… not the whole floor but a lot of it. It was so easy! I did the kitchen, living room, and most of the hallway. I have more to do but this was a great start. All I needed to do was start. So yeah, if you have any type of hard floors, this is the little contraption to use!
So here’s my plan…
I’m going to go through my whole house and document every room with the before and after. I have a feeling it’s the only way I’m going to get motivated enough to get organized how I really want to.
Wish me LUCK!!
