So it’s Christmas night…
Momma and I were watching White Christmas like we do every year when Steven messages me. His message asked me what I thought about getting another dog. Now, keep in mind, we were exactly ten days away from the first anniversary of losing Cash. I asked him what he was talking about.
So, remember Cash’s little girlfriend down the road from where Steven used to live? And remember the little boy dog that looked like Cash that the lady didn’t want to give up? Yep. That’s the one. Apparently, his little girlfriend had moved on and got knocked up again. The lady was trying to give away all the puppies that she could and knowing how much we would appreciate one of Cash’s offspring, she let us have him!
I couldn’t believe it!
I could tell Steven was beside himself happy! He was a little over a year and a half old and he had been named Otis. Otis the Destroyer to be exact. Steven brought him home and after a little while, we were able to get him to come out of his crate so he could meet us. He was nervous, naturally. He took to me almost instantly.
Yeah, he most definitely took to Steven.
Just like Sister, Otis didn’t replace Cash but he sure did help fill a part of the void that Cash left. Now, we have a piece of Cash with us and he could not be MORE like his daddy! From the little man syndrome to the way he stands when he eats! He even looks just like him, too, just a shade or two darker!
I mean, look!!!
It did take him some time to adjust to being around Bella and Sister but now he and Sister play and Bella is a little happier… sassy thing.
So, now we have our motley crew in our happy little family. We don’t know how much longer we will have Bella but our promise to her is that her second half of life will be so much better than her first. I told you this story would end on a bittersweet note.
